If you're looking to stock your pantry this fall, Trader Joe's Hoisin Sauce is a must-pick-up ingredient.

If you're unfamiliar with the ingredient, hoisin sauce is a thick, fragrant sauce that's traditionally used in Cantonese cooking as a meat glaze, dipping sauce, or an addition to stir frys. The name actually comes from the pronunciation of the Chinese words for "seafood," but it actually doesn't contain any seafood at all. Trader Joe's sticks to this traditional seafood-free recipe by combining fermented soy bean paste with black sesame paste and brown sugar, as well as spices like star anise, garlic powder, coriander seed, and Szechuan peppercorns.
