# Self-Erasing Clocks Trace of Time Whiteboard Serves as Ticking Appointment Keeper By Rose Nazarali | Published 2009-07-06 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/trace-of-time-clock References: [ohgizmo](http://www.ohgizmo.com/2009/07/06/trace-of-time-whiteboard-clock-erases-itself-over-time/) & [ilgucha](http://ilgucha.com/#Trace_of_time) Trace of Time is a [white-board clock](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dozen-clock) that allows you to write your day’s appointments, and then erase them once they’ve happened. The clock is made from [stainless steel with a glass face](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/moov-and-coo). The singular hour and minute hand also have a built-in eraser, so you always have a clean and fresh clock for the next day. **Implications** - [Multifunctional pieces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/desk-clock-1) such as the self-erasing clock are sure to meet the demands of today's busy adult consumer. In today's fast-paced society, single-serving products simply are not worth a chaos-subjected consumer's money. Thus, companies can begin looking into combining their products' purposes to kill two birds with one stone, so to speak. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.8/10 - Popularity: 19% | Activity: 86% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Multifunctional Products:** The rise of multifunctional products as a response to the time-starved society presents opportunities for companies to create new lines of products that aid in productivity while also fulfilling other needs. - **Eraser-equipped Technology:** With the success of Trace of Time, incorporating eraser-equipped tech in other products, such as writing utensils and audio devices, presents an opportunity to improve user experience by allowing for quick and easy cleanup. - **Customizable Time Management:** The trend of Trace of Time and similar products shows a demand for customizable time management solutions, offering opportunities for app and software developers to create products that cater to individual user needs. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Office Supplies:** The customizable, multifunctional, and easy-to-use nature of Trace of Time presents opportunities for office supply companies to create new and innovative products that aid in productivity. - **Consumer Electronics:** Trace of Time and the trend of eraser-equipped technology present opportunities for consumer electronics companies to improve user experience and create new lines of products. - **Productivity Apps and Software:** The demand for customizable time management solutions creates opportunities for productivity app and software developers to create new products that cater to individual user needs. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Intentionally Foggy Clock Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kehai-clock.md) - [Subtle Lifestyle-Changing Clocks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/superlocal-clock.md) - [Minimal Meeting Clocks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cast-concept.md) - [Clapperboard-Inspired Desk Clocks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/multifunctional-alarm-clock.md) - [Tape Measurable Time Devices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/setime-clock.md) - [Dynamic Shadow Wall Clocks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/textural-wall-clock.md) - [Linearly Formed Wall Clocks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/linear-clock-concept.md) - [Concentric Timezone Wall Clocks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/analog-wall-clock.md) - [Elegant Linear Clocks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/linear-clockworks.md)
