# Robust Compact Multi-Tools The TPT Slide Does Multiple Things and Fits Neatly in a Pocket By Justin Lam | Published 2018-05-08 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tpt-slide References: [everydaycarry](http://everydaycarry.com/posts/28662/bigidesign-tpt-slide?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=rss) & [kickstarter](https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/klinkokids/tpt-slide-titanium-pocket-tool) Pocket-friendly multi-tools often try to balance function with form, but few manage to do so as well as the TPT Slide. Developed by BigiDesign, this new multi-tool is the next generation of the brand's TPT multi-tool. While most will notice the size of the tool first, it is important to also note that this new multi-tool is a fair deal stronger and more durable than its larger counterpart. Comprised of a new and improved [titanium](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smith-blade), the TPT Slide rides a line between a minimalist tool and a robust multi-tool. Equipped with a box opener, flat head screwdriver, 1/4” hex bit driver, measurement cues, a keychain or lanyard hole and a scraper edge, the device manages to fit all of these tools in a compact and ergonomic package. The box opener is housed in a sliding mechanism that features two positions and a locking thumb stud. BigiDesign is currently seeking funding for the TPT Slide on [Kickstarter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sliding-doubleended-edc-tool). ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.1/10 - Popularity: 93% | Activity: 81% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Pocket-friendly Multi-tools:** Manufacturers can explore creating more compact and versatile multi-tools like the TPT Slide to cater to the needs of on-the-go consumers. - **Enhanced Durability:** Opportunities lie in developing multi-tools made from stronger materials, such as improved titanium, to ensure longevity and withstand demanding tasks. - **Innovative Design Features:** There is potential for incorporating sliding mechanisms, versatile tool arrangements, and ergonomic packaging to enhance the functionality and convenience of multi-tools. ### Who This Affects Most - **Outdoor Gear and Equipment:** Companies in the outdoor gear and equipment industry can explore integrating more compact multi-tools into their product lines to offer portable and versatile solutions for outdoor enthusiasts. - **Hardware and Tools:** In the hardware and tools industry, manufacturers can capitalize on the trend of compact multi-tools by developing durable and ergonomic options for professional tradespeople and DIY enthusiasts. - **Crowdfunding Platforms:** Crowdfunding platforms like Kickstarter can benefit from supporting innovative multi-tool projects like the TPT Slide, which offer unique features and appeal to a wide range of backers. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Sliding High-Performance Pocket Tools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sliding-doubleended-edc-tool.md) - [Featherweight Titanium Multitools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/featherweight-titanium-multitool.md) - [Miniscule Titanium Multitools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/miniscule-titanium-multitools.md) - [Ultra-Compact EDC Multitools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/edc-multitools.md) - [Rapidly Retractable Multi-Tools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/retractable-multitool.md) - [Tactical Titanium EDC Multitools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/timav-nextool.md) - [Slim Sliding Wrench Tools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/minimalist-pocket-wrench.md) - [Efficiently Engineered EDC Tools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lever-gear-edge-xt.md) - [Five-in-One Titanium EDC Tools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/titanium-pocket-tool.md)
