# Political Criticism Toy Captures Nolnet Captures the Nasty Side of War via Toy Soldier Photography By Kyle Towers | Published 2013-03-17 | Tech Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/toy-soldier-photography References: [ufunk.net](http://www.ufunk.net/photos/lego-toy-soldiers/) & [flickr](http://www.flickr.com/photos/nolnet/sets/72157632975280782/with/8550071860/) This series of images by Nolnet is a social commentary on the corruption and violence that takes place in wars, the military and the arms trade. This is all juxtaposed by using [LEGO](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lego-campbells-soup) toys created to look like toy soldiers. It would be unlikely to see any scene such as these recreated by a child playing with toys, but unfortunately the ruthless behavior displayed by Nolnet happens in real life all the time. One of the images that really stood out for me was the picture that depicts two soldiers holding a man's decapitated head and posing for a picture. This sort of behavior is sickening and yet is part of society. Even toys can't lighten this scene. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.0/10 - Popularity: 16% | Activity: 6% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Photography](https://www.trendhunter.com/photography) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Social Commentary Photography:** Creating thought-provoking images that highlight social issues can be a disruptive innovation opportunity in the art and photography industries. - **Toy Photography:** Using toys as a medium to create unique and impactful images could be a disruptive innovation opportunity in the toy and photography industries. - **Realism in Toy Design:** Developing more realistic toy designs that accurately portray society and its issues could be a disruptive innovation opportunity in the toy industry. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Art:** Artists can use social commentary photography to create compelling works that raise awareness and spark conversations about important issues. - **Toy:** Toy companies can explore new approaches for designing and marketing products that reflect societal problems in a safe and appropriate way. - **Photography:** Photographers can experiment with toy photography and explore new ways of storytelling by using a unique medium. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Travel-Inspired Canvas Paintings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-passport-series.md) - [Immigration System-Inspired Artworks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/passport-series.md) - [Explosion-Damaged Sculpture Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/light-into-darkness.md) - [Pop Art Factory Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lego-campbells-soup.md) - [Anti-Gun Water Toys](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/antigun-water-toys-jayhayspray20-promotes-change-in-societys-relationship-w.md) - [Contemporary Military Fashion Brands](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ukrainian-brand-rbtnk.md) - [Witty Toy-Brand Horror Posters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/horror-poster.md) - [Living Condition Awareness Dollhouses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/unwelcome-home.md) - [Color-In Photo Cameras](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/toy-camera-concept.md)
