The aluminum-bodied drive measures 3.37 x 2.09 x 0.28 inches, includes a MagSafe-compatible ring for [iPhone](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lexar-sl500-portable-ssd) attachment and a single USB-C port for host connections. The TouchLock prioritized reliability and low power with a custom controller that limited heat while delivering up to 450 Mbps write and 420 Mbps read speeds, sufficient for handling 4K ProRes 60 fps video from a phone. Setup required installing Lexar’s iOS/Android app and registering a handset via the NFC pad; accessories include a USB-C cable, USB-A adapter and adhesive magnetic ring. For consumers, the drive simplifies encrypted portable storage by replacing passcodes and biometrics with a near-instant NFC tap, improving everyday data security and usability. Its compact, drop-resistant design and phone-centric unlocking reflect a growing trend toward seamless, hardware-backed privacy tools.
