Inmates are stretching in unison behind bars? Kids have the patience for deep breathing and stillness? You bet! Yoga isn’t just for adults looking for a healthy way to unwind, ground themselves, or connect with spirituality.

Yoga Behind Bars is a Seattle nonprofit organization in support of yoga instruction at King County jail. It’s been taught there for five years
“with the intention of rehabilitation and reducing recidivism,” [Seattle Weekly](http://www.seattleweekly.com/2007-11-07/calendar/yoga-behind-bars-benefit.php) reported. The demand for the classes is skyrocketing!

As for the youngens, Florida kids hit the mats weekly on Marco Island at [Hands on Yoga Studio](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/first-cut-cigar-blend).

“Relaxation was really difficult for the kids at first because it was hard for them to sit still, but now, the kids can relax for a whole two minutes,” [ZWire](http://www.zwire.com/site/news.cfm?newsid=19000093&BRD=2256&PAG=461&dept_id=455823&rfi=6)reported. The founder, Peggy Totten, sees a lot of benefit in starting young. “If you start earlier, you start respecting your body and noticing what you put into it.”
