The project is essentially a "city" of [intricate sculptures that resemble buildings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/trevi-fountain-model). The collection of sculptures are slowing making up his city, but the artist will continue to work away until he deems his city complete. He created the collection entirely out of uncountable amount of [toothpicks and glue](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lucky-toothpicks). Though the total count of toothpicks is unknown, one of his largest works was made with over 100,000 toothpicks. It, along with its processors, is meticulously put together and includes intricate details like rocks, bricks and staircases. Every building is put together so well that any onlooker would not know -- until they got a microscopic view -- that they were made from the [simple everyday item](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/functional-microscope). ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.4/10 - Popularity: 26% | Activity: 9% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Toothpick Sculptures:** Opportunity for artists to create intricate and surreal sculptures using toothpicks as a medium. - **Miniature Cityscapes:** Potential for creating miniature cityscapes with meticulous details using unconventional materials. - **Microscopic Art:** Innovation in the realm of creating art that appears ordinary but reveals intricate details under closer examination. ### Where This Applies - **Art and Sculpture:** Artists can leverage toothpicks as a medium to create unique and attention-grabbing sculptures. - **Architecture and Model Making:** Model makers can explore using unconventional materials like toothpicks to create realistic miniature cityscapes. - **Microscopic Imaging Technology:** Advancements in microscopic imaging technology can enable the detailed examination of intricate artworks made from everyday items. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Paper-Made Mosaic Artwork](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/real-life-architecture-exhibition.md) - [Laser-Cut Urban Artistry](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/laser-cut-city-maps.md) - [Towering Wooden Block Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/capsule-tower.md) - [Festive Brick Toy Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/whoville-moc.md) - [Architecture-Inspired Legos](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/brooklyns-architectural-history.md) - [Miniature Artful Hip-Hop Landmarks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/danny-cortes.md) - [Iconic Artist Toy Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lego-ideas-bob-ross.md) - [Geometric Wooden Art Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aleph-geddis.md) - [Building Block Art Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/art-project-create-together.md)
