# Startling Eyeball Sculptures The Giant Tony Tasset 'EYE' Keeps Watch in Chicago By Meghan Young | Published 2010-07-07 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tony-tasset-eye References: [fastcompany](http://www.fastcompany.com/1667533/heres-looking-at-you-chicago) & [chicagonow](http://www.chicagonow.com/blogs/chicago-garden/2010/06/giant-eyeball-sculpture-at-pritzker-park.html) I may find eyeballs pretty disturbing (honestly, you stare too hard at me and I get goosebumps), but I have to admit that the Tony Tasset 'EYE' sculpture is impressive. Modeled after the artist's own eye, it is located in Pritzker Park, Chicago. Although not necessarily well-received by Chicago residents, the Tony Tasset 'EYE' [30-foot installation](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flower-market-20) will surely grab its own fair share of stares. Made using "8,000 and 9,000 pounds of fiberglass and another 9,000 pounds of steel," according to [Fast Company](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aluminum-outdoor-furniture), how could it not get this kind of attention? ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.2/10 - Popularity: 85% | Activity: 64% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Modern](https://www.trendhunter.com/modern) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Eyeball Art:** Installation art featuring eyeballs as the central theme. - **Giant Art:** The creation of large sculptures for public consumption. - **Sculpture Tourism:** The promotion of cities and tourist attractions through art installations. ### Who This Affects Most - **Art:** The creation and sale of unique art installations for public spaces. - **Tourism:** Using large-scale art installations to promote tourist destinations. - **Construction:** Creating large-scale art installations presents new opportunities for construction companies to demonstrate their abilities. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Gem-Like Sculptural Art Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cylindrical-lenses.md) - [Reflective Urban Art Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/minibean.md) - [Optical Illusion Replica Artworks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/liberty-science-center.md) - [Permanent London Art Installtions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/infinite-accumulation.md) - [Interactive Kinetic Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/interactive-kinetic-sculptures.md) - [Virant Monumental Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/meow-wolfs-group-exhibition.md) - [Spiky Inflatable Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/inflatable-sculptures1.md) - [Psychedelic Sculptural Art Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/frank-stella-recent-sculpture.md) - [Artist-Designed Sports Statues](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/louis-de-guzman.md)
