# Dancing Robot Smartphone Stands The Tomy iPhone Stand is Designed to Cut a Rug By Michael Hines | Published 2013-06-03 | Tech Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tomy-iphone-stand References: [technabob](http://technabob.com/blog/2013/05/24/tony-dancing-iphone-stand/) & [takaratomy.co.jp](http://www.takaratomy.co.jp/products/dancingfacestand/) The [Tomy](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sora-q) iPhone Stand is easily one of the creepiest smartphone stands around. Not creepy in the sense that it will frighten you, but creepy in a way only a dancing robot that has your face on it can be. The stand has the body of a robot and is powered by its own battery. When you hit the music, it begins to dance. If a dancing robot isn’t enough to tickle your fancy, you can also download a portrait app that works with the Tomy iPhone Stand. The app lets you upload a picture of your face or someone else’s face. This picture changes as the robot dances around. The Tomy iPhone Stand is compatible with both the [iPhone 4](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/iphone-4-concept) and 5 and is sold for $34. A video of its sweet moves can be seen, here. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 0.9/10 - Popularity: 6% | Activity: 12% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial - Top markets: Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Mobile](https://www.trendhunter.com/mobile) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Dancing Robot Smartphone Stands:** Opportunity for creating more interactive smartphone stands by incorporating robotic movements and personalized features. ### Where This Applies - **Smartphone Accessories:** Potential for innovation in smartphone accessories by incorporating robotic elements and personalized features. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Freestanding Smartphone Dock Speakers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/jteman-phone-stand-and-speaker.md) - [Robotic Desktop Companions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/robot-concept.md) - [Motion-Tracking Phone Stands](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/motion-tracking-phone-mount.md) - [Cement-Made Smartphone Stands](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/artifox-monument.md) - [Retro Computer Smartphone Stands](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/elago-m4-charging-stand.md) - [Multi-Purpose Computer Stands](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/computer-stand3.md) - [Shifting Orientation Smartphone Docks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smartphone-stand-charger.md) - [Robotic Companion Smartphone Models](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/honor-robot-phone.md) - [Gripping Smartphone Mount Stands](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kling-kong-smartphone-kickstand.md)
