The wood has been sculpted in such a way as to give it a stunning disc-like look, which hovers over the light bulb. Modern in a minimalist manner, the [pendant lamp](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/minimalist-lighting-design) would fit into any living space beautifully. It is basic enough to complement existing decor while bold enough to make its own statement. Curated by John Baker and Juli Daoust for the [Mjölk](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mjlk) online shop, the Tomiyama Koichi Walnut Coffee Lamp may be ubiquitous in coffee shops all over Japan, but it was made for North American use only. In addition to the [wooden lampshade](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/blue-green-works), which was hand turned by Koichi himself, it comes with a ceramic fitting. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.3/10 - Popularity: 60% | Activity: 32% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Minimalist Lighting:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation in the lighting industry by creating simple, sleek and modern light fixtures that complement any living space. - **Wooden Lighting:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation in the furniture industry by incorporating wooden elements into lighting designs, creating a unique and natural aesthetic. - **Pendant Lamps:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation in the interior design industry by designing pendant lamps with stunning disc-like shapes that make their own statement. ### Where This Applies - **Lighting:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation in the lighting industry by incorporating minimalist and wooden elements into light fixtures. - **Furniture:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation in the furniture industry by merging lighting and woodwork to create unique and aesthetically pleasing designs. - **Interior Design:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation in the interior design industry by incorporating statement-making pendant lamps with disc-like shapes into various living spaces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Pine Wood-Inspired Minimal Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/jakobsson.md) - [Raw Minimalist Pine Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hoop-table-lamp.md) - [Hanging Lantern-Like Table Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/woodo-table-lamp.md) - [Wooden Pendant Lamp Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wood-collection-1.md) - [Natural Material Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/coconut-shell-solid-wood-lamp.md) - [Twisting Timber Lampshade Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/twisted-lasercut-wooden-lampshade.md) - [Design-Focused Wooden Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wooden-soul.md) - [Japanese Lantern-Inspired Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/madco.md) - [American Oak Pendant Lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/light-bean.md)
