# Acutely Angled Couches The Tomek Rygalik Chopin Sofa is Dynamically Sloped By Shiori Mine | Published 2012-07-06 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tomek-rygalik-chopin-sofa References: [contemporist](http://www.contemporist.com/2012/07/05/chopin-sofa-by-tomek-rygalik/) & [studiorygalik](http://www.studiorygalik.com/) Although minimalism prefers lines to remain clean and vertical, the asymmetrical angles of the Tomek Rygalik Chopin Sofa add an unexpected twist to modern spaces. While the majority of the couch is fairly clean-cut, the back rest slopes downward. The sofa is not only aesthetically pleasing, but also proves to boast multiple functions -- ideal for [today's every-shifting families](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rubik-v-cloud-modular-couch). The piece can be rearranged as a standard sofa, [armchair and chaise lounge](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flipster-seat), depending on the room's needs and functions. The [modular-esque arms and back](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hybla) provide just enough privacy without obstructing the home owner from the rest of the action. The chair comes in two distinct shades: a matte black and a bold crimson. The Tomek Rygalik Chopin Sofa fits into any contemporary home and provides comfort with added character. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.2/10 - Popularity: 73% | Activity: 44% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Asymmetrical Furniture:** There is an opportunity for designers to create asymmetrical furniture pieces like the Tomek Rygalik Chopin Sofa that add unexpected visual interest and functionality to modern spaces. - **Modular Furniture:** The modular-esque arms and back of the Tomek Rygalik Chopin Sofa suggest an opportunity to expand the market for furniture that can be adapted and rearranged to suit changing needs and functions in modern homes and offices. - **Multi-functional Furniture:** Furniture pieces like the Tomek Rygalik Chopin Sofa with multiple functions and flexible arrangements continue to meet the needs of today's ever-shifting families, suggesting continued opportunities for innovation in this space. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Furniture Design:** The asymmetrical angles and mult-functional features of the Tomek Rygalik Chopin Sofa suggest opportunities for furniture designers to create visually-interesting and flexible pieces for modern homes and offices. - **Home Decor:** Asymmetrical and multi-functional furniture pieces like the Tomek Rygalik Chopin Sofa provide opportunities for home decor companies to introduce unique and adaptable statement pieces into modern living spaces. - **Architectural Design:** Asymmetrical furniture pieces like the Tomek Rygalik Chopin Sofa provide opportunities for architects to create modern and visually interesting interior spaces that reflect the needs of today's ever-shifting families. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Sculptural Minimalism Sofa Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/noom-hello-sofa.md) - [Flexible Landscape-Like Sofas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/airberg-sofa-collection.md) - [Oblong Color-Blocked Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/meritalia-morphologica-collection.md) - [Curvaceous Modular Sofas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/blocks-modular-sofa.md) - [Voluptuous Modern Sofa Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/reimagined-everyday-sofa.md) - [Organically Shaped Sofas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/repose-sofa.md) - [Modular Coffee Table Sofas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/silky-sofa.md) - [Laidback Modular Sofa Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/natuzzi-bao.md) - [Bold Flowing Couch Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/plyn-sofa.md)
