# Food-Fueled Video Games The Tomato Soup Battery By Howard Wu | Published 2008-11-05 | Business Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tomato-soup-battery-play-video-games-on-soup References: [woodeson](http://www.woodeson.co.uk/pages/alter.html) This Tomato Soup Battery, created by Ben Woodeson, consists of a bathtub, copper and zinc electrodes, and a large amount of tomato soup. This electricity source apparently generates enough power to play video games on a black and white TV. Whether or not this is a hoax, I have no idea, but the idea is so creative and silly, that if any kind of non-biological “food for energy” transformation can be made efficiently, a new business might be in the works. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.5/10 - Popularity: 40% | Activity: 27% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Business](https://www.trendhunter.com/business) > [New Ventures](https://www.trendhunter.com/newventures) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Food-based Energy Sources:** Opportunity for developing alternative energy sources using food products. - **Creative Power Generation:** Potential for generating electricity through unconventional means. - **Playful Innovation:** Emerging trend of combining playfulness and innovation in unusual ways. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Renewable Energy:** Disruptive innovation potential for integrating food-based energy sources into the renewable energy industry. - **Gaming Industry:** Opportunity for developing unique gaming experiences using unconventional power generation methods. - **Food Technology:** Potential for leveraging unconventional food-based energy sources in the development of new food technologies. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Gamer-Targeted Noodle Cups](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gaming-cup-noodle.md) - [Recreated Video Game Meals](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/playstation-to-plate.md) - [Vegetable Power-Up Campaigns](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modtheveg.md) - [Battery-Powered Stoves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/copper-charlie.md) - [Gaming Console Energy Supplements](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/g-fuel-atari-2600.md) - [Crustacean-Based Batteries](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/crab-shell-batteries.md) - [Pizza-Warming Console Sleeves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pizza-wrmr.md) - [Battery-Powered Food Trucks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ecofriendly-food-truck-generators.md) - [Sand-Based Electric Batteries](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/polar-night-energy.md)
