# Tubular Sakura Tree Sculptures Tom Price Re-Imagines Pipes Into Beautiful Cherry Blossom Forests By Jason Soy | Published 2011-11-25 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tom-price References: [dezeen](http://www.dezeen.com/2011/11/22/cherry-tree-by-tom-price/) & [tom-price](http://www.tom-price.com/) If you've ever experienced the splendor of a forest of [cherry blossom trees in full bloom](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bloome), I think you'll be doubly amazed by this Tom Price art installation that recreates that dramatic natural wonder using [plastic tubes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/forest-dancer). Shown at the [Industry Gallery](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/industry-west) in Washington D.C, the tree trunks of these Tom Price creations were carefully made by heating pieces of tubing, molding them into their desired shapes and then binding them together using cable ties. The canopies were made by taking small cross-sections of tubing and fusing the pieces together to ultimately form these eerily life-like plastic masterpieces. The final installation occupied an entire room at the Industry Gallery, but I'm sure visitors were appreciative of this as it transported them to a surreal landscape where inorganic plant life existed. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.9/10 - Popularity: 88% | Activity: 51% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Plastic Art Installations:** Exploring the use of plastic materials to create visually stunning art installations. - **Naturalistic Replicas:** Creating lifelike replicas of natural elements using unconventional materials. - **Surreal Landscapes:** Transforming ordinary spaces into fantastical landscapes using imaginative art installations. ### Who This Affects Most - **Art and Sculpture:** Exploring new materials and techniques to push the boundaries of traditional art and sculpture. - **Interior Design:** Incorporating unique and unconventional art installations to create captivating interior spaces. - **Tourism and Hospitality:** Attracting visitors by incorporating immersive and visually stimulating art installations within establishments. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Blooming Clustered Art Forms](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/structural-botany.md) - [Outdoor Floral Sculpture Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sculptures-at-kew-gardens.md) - [Nature-Inspired Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/humannature-1.md) - [Tubed Immersive Organ-Like Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/organlike-installation.md) - [Transparent Teardrop-Shaped Tents](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/yuko-nagayama-associates.md) - [Air-Purifying Tree Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/treeone.md) - [Cartoonish Tubular Treehouses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tubular-treehouse.md) - [Copper Tubular Minimal Vases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hiroyuki-yuasa.md) - [Monumental Air Installation](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/iwagumi-air-scape.md)
