# Building Blunders Tom Ngo Shows the Ugly Side of Structures With ‘Architectural Absurdities& By Andrew Robichaud | Published 2009-07-22 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tom-ngo-architectural-absurdities References: [dezeen](http://www.dezeen.com/2009/07/21/architectural-absurdities-by-tom-ngo/) & [tomngo.net](http://www.tomngo.net/) The simple (some more than others) buildings that continue to shoot up throughout our cities are magnificent structures in comparison to the atrocities of Tom Ngo’s ‘Architectural Absurdities.’ The houses blend different objects like bicycles and [boat sails](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/folly-fair-hill) in order to create these [faux-houses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dollhouse-concept). Ngo uses a brilliant imagination to compose structures that would never even make it to a concept stage. His thought process is skewed and we’ll never know what he was thinking, but the designs are fun to look at at they truly encompass the title of ‘Architectural Absurdities.’ ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.5/10 - Popularity: 25% | Activity: 13% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Mixed Object Architecture:** The trend of blending different objects like bicycles and boat sails in architectural design presents opportunities for unique and visually stunning structures. - **Imaginative Architecture:** The trend of using brilliant imagination in architecture allows for the creation of unconventional and thought-provoking structures. - **Absurdist Architecture:** The trend of embracing absurdity in architectural design leads to the development of visually intriguing and unconventional buildings. ### Who This Affects Most - **Architecture:** The architecture industry can explore new possibilities and push boundaries with the trend of mixed object and imaginative architecture. - **Urban Planning:** The trend of absurdist architecture can challenge traditional urban planning concepts and inspire innovative approaches to urban design. - **Art and Design:** The art and design industry can explore the intersection of architecture and artistic expression through the trend of imaginative and absurdist architecture. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Abstract Fantasy Home Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/abstract-fantasy-home.md) - [Protest Sand Architecture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bland-castles.md) - [Cement Block-Decorated Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/small-houses.md) - [Optical Illusion Replica Artworks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/liberty-science-center.md) - [Whimsical Futuristic Home Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/yoohome.md) - [Modern Concrete Hayfield Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/759-house.md) - [Architecture-Inspired Furniture Capsules](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/formfunctional-archifurniture.md) - [Towering Wooden Block Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/capsule-tower.md) - [Sculptural Inverted Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/a-house-with-an-inverted-roof.md)
