Unveiled at the 2018 Maison et Objet, these [self-sustaining ecosystems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tendril-1) give users the ability to create unique and [beautiful terrariums](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lego-terrarium). A visual "how-to" guide comes with the distinct double-headed vase and instructs buyers on how to best inhibit and plant their very own ecosystem. The double-headed design makes assembly and adjustments easy. The double-headed vase also works perfectly as a housing for other floral arrangements, for those who are not inclined to create their own ecosystems. Each vase is completely unique as every vase sold was mouth-blown. No two vessels are the same as the all range in size, thickness and even have slight variations in shape. The idea of unpredictability seems to tie the entire PLANT collection together as the variation in vases pair nicely in the randomness of homemade terrariums. Tom Dixon's PLANT collection is a striking piece of design that combines human creation with the randomness of nature. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.9/10 - Popularity: 91% | Activity: 77% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Customized Terrariums:** The growing demand for personalized home decor presents an opportunity for businesses to provide unique and customizable planting solutions. - **Self-sustaining Ecosystems:** The rise of sustainable living and eco-conscious consumers presents an opportunity for businesses to create innovative products that incorporate self-sustaining ecosystems. - **Handcrafted Home Decor:** The popularity of artisanal products presents an opportunity for businesses to create handcrafted, one-of-a-kind home decor items like the PLANT collection. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Home Decor:** The home decor industry can incorporate self-sustaining ecosystems to provide unique, sustainable, and personalized products to meet customers' demand. - **Eco-friendly Products:** The PLANT collection presents opportunities for businesses in the eco-friendly products industry to create innovative and self-sustaining products that align with consumers' values. - **Artisanal Products:** The demand for artisanal products provides an opportunity for businesses to create handcrafted home decor items that incorporate customized planting solutions as seen in the PLANT collection. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Plant-Friendly Furniture Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/jcp-universe-coloniae.md) - [Impressive DIY Terrariums](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/diy-terrarium1.md) - [Oversized Colorful Dynamic Planters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tfm.md) - [Bold Hand-Crafted Planters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/handcrafted-planters.md) - [Compact Microclimate Terrariums](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/microclimate-terrariums.md) - [Natural Moss Terrariums](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/petite-foret-plus.md) - [DIY Terrarium Jars](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/crackyourown-geode-crystal-terrariums.md) - [Terrarium Stool Seating Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wild-stool.md) - [Cork Bottle Terrarium Puzzles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lego-terrarium.md)
