# Curtain-Encircling Abodes The Toledo House is Made to Withstand the Heat of Guatemala By Jamie Danielle Munro | Published 2014-04-15 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/toledo-house References: [designboom](http://www.designboom.com/architecture/assadi-pulido-casa-toledo-house-guatemala-04-14-2014/) & [assadi.cl](http://www.assadi.cl/assadipulido.com/FELIPE_ASSADI_%20_FRANCISCA_PULIDO___ARCHITECTS___CHILE.html) The Toledo House is set to withstand the intense heat that hits Guatemala. The upper level of the abode is fitted with a [fabric curtain](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/curtain-house) that encircles the entire floor. Not only does this protect individuals from the heat, but it also provides some much-needed privacy from prying eyes. The house was built by Assadi and Pulido, a Chilean firm that did an excellent job on this design. Because the abode was situated on a hilltop, the firm wanted to make the most of the amazing views of the valley below, so fitted plenty of floor-to-ceiling windows throughout the place. A pool is also located in the backyard, providing some relief from the heat of Guatemala. A large deck area accommodates plenty of people who want to kick back and relax.
