The [Tokyo Toilet](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hiroo-east-park) project's aim is to create accessible urban washroom facilities, combating "misconception regarding public toilets" and encouraging a societal environment where diversity is more wholeheartedly embraced. The initiative is overseen by the nonprofit organization [Nippon Foundation](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pictograms-iconic-japanese-designs) and a total of 17 bathroom facilities are expected to come out of it.

Interior design studio Wonderwall is taking part in the Tokyo Toilet project, introducing "a maze of board-marked concrete walls" that enclose a [public washroom facility](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/round-about-baths). To make the space accessible, the firm referenced primitive kawaya huts which were utilized as toilets in the earliest era of Japanese history. In other words, Wonderwall tapped the origin of toilets on the island county. The structure is located in Ebisu Park.
