Tom Broadbent is an industrial design student at De Montfort University in Leicester, UK. Tom has created a toilet power generator that converts kinetic energy from flushing your toilet into electrical energy.

The toilet power generator, HighDro Power, is composed of a [four-blade waterwheel-like turbine](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hydrokinetic-river-power) that drives a generator. With the addition of this ingenious invention, a seven-story building could save $1,000 per year in energy costs.

**Implications** - The eco-friendly toilet was inspired by what Tom Broadbent calls a "Eureka! moment." He claims that it happened when he [emptied a hotel bath](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/upfall-shower) and watched as the water quickly swooshed down the drain. He decided that energy should be able work in the same sense.
