# Tetris Architecture The Tissellistudioarchitetti Apartments Bring a Classic to Life By Alex Scott | Published 2010-04-07 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tissellistudioarchitetti-apartments References: [dezeen](http://www.dezeen.com/2010/04/07/apartments-by-tissellistudioarchitetti/) & [tissellistudio](http://www.tissellistudio.com/_vti_g1_1.aspx) Now I know the Tissellistudioarchitetti apartments weren't directly based on the classic video game, but it sure feels that way. What appear to be [Tetris blocks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tetris-tumble-xl) are actually a series of ramps and [recessed patios](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/casa-tres-patis). The first two levels of the condo are dedicated to parking while the top two contain the 28 separate living spaces. What I like most about the ultra modern Tissellistudioarchitetti apartments are the absolutely enormous patios attached to each unit. Often if you move into a [new condo](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/onda-apartment), you get a tiny little balcony--if you get one at all. Modern Italian living is something I think I could get pretty used to. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.1/10 - Popularity: 64% | Activity: 50% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Architecture](https://www.trendhunter.com/architecture) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Tetris-inspired Architecture:** There is an opportunity for architects to design structures taking inspiration from innovative and unconventional sources such as video games. - **Maximizing Patio Spaces:** There is an opportunity to design living spaces with more outdoor areas, with focus on maximizing the use and size of patios and balconies. - **Multi-functional Living Spaces:** There is an opportunity to design living spaces with multi-functional rooms and features, such as recessed patios that can be converted into an indoor-outdoor dining area or a workspace. ### Where This Applies - **Architecture:** The field of architecture can benefit from exploring unconventional sources of inspiration and incorporating innovative design features. - **Real Estate:** Real estate developers can explore the opportunities for creating living spaces with more outdoor areas and unique design features that appeal to modern homebuyers. - **Home Furnishings:** Home furnishing brands can design and promote furniture that complements multi-functional living spaces, such as outdoor furniture designs that can be used for indoor settings as well. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Video Game-Like Bookcases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tetris-bookcase.md) - [Puzzle Video Game Sofas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sara-hyat-tetris-sofa.md) - [Game-Inspired Playable Puzzle Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tetris-solid.md) - [Animated Game-Inspired Buildings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rainbow-road.md) - [Towering Wooden Block Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/capsule-tower.md) - [Italian 4-Story Loft Apartments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/casa-mrgt.md) - [Contrasting Facade Clad Apartments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rvtk.md) - [Brutalist-Inspired Suburban Apartments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/casa-rude.md) - [Adjustable Japanese Studio Apartments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/building-frame-of-the-house.md)
