# Paint Spill Lighting Tapio Anttila's Tip Pendant Lamp Looks Like itt is Dripping into a Puddle By Meghan Young | Published 2012-02-02 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tip-pendant-lamp References: [trendsnow.net](http://www.trendsnow.net/2012/01/tip-pendant-light.html) & [tapioanttila](http://www.tapioanttila.com/) As simple as the Tip pendant lamp may be, there is a lot of life and character in it. Full of movement, it looks like an ongoing paint spill. The white cord that suspends the light fixture drips down fluidly, forming a disc-like puddle beneath it. That puddle happens to be the light itself. Created by Tapio Anttila Design, a studio based in Lahti, Finland, the Tip pendant lamp is a serene saucer that sheds a light that is both strong and soft. It is also available in a [floor lamp alternative](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/takeout-lamp), which looks like a bigger paint puddle above is dripping to the ground, like a liquid version of an hourglass. Pristine and [minimalist](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/minimalist-lighting-design), the Tip pendant lamp would fit into any home. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.2/10 - Popularity: 58% | Activity: 59% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Fluid Lighting:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Explore materials and designs that create the illusion of movement and fluidity in lighting fixtures. - **Sculptural Lighting:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop lighting fixtures that serve as artistic sculptures, adding character and visual interest to interior spaces. - **Minimalist Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Combine minimalism with functionality to create lighting fixtures that blend seamlessly into various home styles. ### Who This Affects Most - **Interior Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Collaborate with lighting designers to incorporate unique and eye-catching lighting fixtures into interior design projects. - **Home Decor:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Create lighting fixtures that not only provide illumination but also serve as statement pieces for home decor. - **Lighting Manufacturing:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Invest in research and development to create innovative lighting technologies and designs that captivate consumers. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Elegant Axis-Mounted Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pendulum-lamp.md) - [Tiltable Dimmable Lighting Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nod-lamp.md) - [Fishnet-Made Pendant Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/philips-mycreation-droplet-lamp.md) - [Chic Saucer-Shaped Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/light-in-tight-light-fixture.md) - [Water Movement-Inspired Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ripple-light.md) - [Suspended Halo Light Fixtures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lamplox-minimalist-floor-lamp.md) - [Archetypal Conical Light Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fragile-lamp.md) - [Sculptural Glass Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tuloa.md) - [Organically Fluid Lighting Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pop-collection.md)
