# Concrete-Like Desk Accessories The Tiny City Collection by TripleLiving is Deceptively Malleable By Meghan Young | Published 2015-01-14 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tiny-city References: [design-milk](http://design-milk.com/concrete-goes-soft-desk-accessory-series-tripleliving/) & [triplelivings](http://www.triplelivings.com/) One glance at the [Tiny City Collection](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/redwood), a set of [desk accessories](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ofiistory-desk-supplies), and a person will probably mistake the material for concrete. The familiar house shapes and the grey color would trick just about anyone. Yet in reality, the Tiny City Collection is made out of a mix of cement and silicone, which gives the objects a soft, malleable feel. The texture, however, is still rough. Designed by TripleLiving, a studio based in Taiwan, the Tiny City Collection is simple and chic, bringing a playful bit of [industrial edge](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/intra-side-table) to workspaces and offices. It is comprised of a variety of holders for pencils, paper clips and more. Design Milk writes, "The purpose behind their design is to connect product and living in a harmonious way." ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.0/10 - Popularity: 76% | Activity: 65% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Malleable Desk Accessories:** The use of cement and silicone mixtures in place of traditional materials is an opportunity for disruptive innovation - **Playful Industrial Design:** Adding a playful edge to industrial design in office spaces can be a unique disruptive innovation opportunity - **Harmonious Product Design:** Designing products with the purpose of harmoniously connecting them to living spaces can be a new area of innovation ### Where This Applies - **Office Supplies:** Using non-traditional materials for office supplies could offer a new niche in the market - **Industrial Design:** Designing industrial products that incorporate playful elements is a new innovation opportunity - **Home Decor:** Incorporating soft, malleable materials into home decor products can offer a unique disruptive innovation opportunity ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Beach-Inspired Desk Trios](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/deskterior.md) - [Sturdy Home Decor](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modern-cement-decor.md) - [Playful Industrial Desk Accessories](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/forming-function-nomad-collection.md) - [Soothing Tetrapod Desk Accessories](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/seawall-desk-accessories.md) - [Concrete Sculptural Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ancora.md) - [Korean Game-Inspired Desk Accessories](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/playful-desk-accessories.md) - [Toy Block-Inspired Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bloc-collection.md) - [Skyscraper-Inspired Furniture Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ben-ganz.md) - [Utilitarian Design Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dpartment.md)
