# Spindly Yarn-Wrapped Trees Urban Outfitters' Tiny Christmas Tree is a Cute Space-Saver By Laura McQuarrie | Published 2013-11-19 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tiny-christmas-tree References: [urbanoutfitters](http://www.urbanoutfitters.com/urban/catalog/productdetail.jsp?id=29084258&parentid=A_HOLIDAY) & [urbanoutfitters](http://www.urbanoutfitters.com/urban/catalog/productdetail.jsp?id=28946671&parentid=A_HOLIDAY) This tiny Christmas tree is wrapped in colourful yarn, like it was the target of a small-scale yarn bombing attack. The festive ‘Yarn-Wrapped Tree’ from Urban Outfitters is a unique alternative to traditional [tabletop trees](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cat-friendly-holiday-tree) and a great way to save space. The colors of the tree are quite pastel-like and reminiscent of spring, which would be a nice reminder to have in your house to be assured that the long, cold December months won't last forever. The tree is hand-crafted from yarn, nylon and wire and it would probably even make a simple enough DIY project for those who are crafty individuals. The tiny Christmas tree makes the perfect home for [small-scale ornaments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/paper-christmas-ornament) and short strings of [festive holiday lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fluorescence). ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.2/10 - Popularity: 82% | Activity: 96% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Home](https://www.trendhunter.com/home) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Yarn-wrapped Trees:** The trend of wrapping trees in colorful yarn creates a unique alternative to traditional holiday decor and opens opportunities for the craft and DIY industries. - **Space-saving Trees:** The trend of creating tiny Christmas trees offers a new space-saving solution for urban dwellers and presents opportunities for the home decor and design industries. - **Pastel Colors:** The trend of using pastel colors in holiday decor provides a fresh and modern alternative to traditional holiday color schemes and offers opportunities for the fashion and interior design industries. ### Where This Applies - **Craft and DIY:** The trend of creating yarn-wrapped Christmas trees offers opportunities for craft and DIY industries to provide materials and tutorials for creating unique holiday decor. - **Home Decor and Design:** The trend of tiny, space-saving Christmas trees presents opportunities for the home decor and design industries to tap into the urban market with innovative, functional products. - **Fashion and Interior Design:** The trend of using pastel colors in holiday decor presents opportunities for the fashion and interior design industries to offer fresh and modern holiday products for consumers looking to break away from traditional red and green color schemes. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Recycled Wood Christmas Trees](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sustainable-christmas-tree-alternative.md) - [Pop-Up Holiday Decor](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/one-minute-christmas-trees.md) - [Cutout Christmas Tree Displays](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/christmas-tree-display.md) - [Christmas-Themed USB Keys](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/psb-xmas-tree.md) - [Decorative Caramel-Filled Trees](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/holiday-caramel-tree.md) - [Farm-Sourced Christmas Trees](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fraser-fir-christmas-tree.md) - [Plastic Bottle-Made Christmas Trees](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/caroline-chaptini.md) - [Sparkling Illuminated Festive Wreaths](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/starry-wreath.md) - [DIY Embroidery Ornaments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/diy-stitched-ornament-kits.md)
