Swedish design studio Johan Sundberg [Arkitektur](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/yngsj) designs a new extension dubbed the Timjan to add to an [old villa](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/seventies-house) in Lund. It was originally built in the 1920s and features an apple orchard on the property. The new extension adds a modern feel to the space and a contrast to the existing space.

It opens up with a spacious entrance, leading to a guest room, kitchenette, and bathroom. Sundberg explains to Dezeen that "The core aim of the extension was to create a low-slung modern addition that would work with the existing house and its beautiful garden. We wanted to create a design that was clearly subordinate but not grovelling. This is the classic question: how do we add something new to something old?"
