# Life-Size 8-Bit Recreations Enjoy Massive Retro Pixelated Images in HESAV S'Anime Time-Lapse Video By Elise Ying-Hei Ho | Published 2012-09-20 | Pop Culture Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/timelapse-video References: [ufunk.net](http://www.ufunk.net/en/insolite/animated-tower/) & [notsonoisy](http://www.notsonoisy.com/) Using the 11-story HESAV tower from Health High School Vaud, which is situated in Lausanne, Switzerland, Trivial Mass Production and [YouTube](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/3d-billboards) user NOTsoNOISY, also known as artist Guillaume Reymond, produced this jaw-dropping time-lapse video 'Animated Tower (HESAV s'anime!)' with the students. The students equipped the 11 x 5-windowed building with dual-sliding shutters in order to produce this labor-intensive project. By opening and closing the shutters sequentially, the patterns mimic the awesomely ancient [8-bit pixelated images](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/paint-mirror) of when the Internet first came out by illustrating simple old school pictures like the asterisk, spinning windmills, moving arrows and the [classic snake game](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/retro-gaming-box). Reportedly taking up approximately 110 students over several hours, this not-so-easy two and a half minute time-lapse video is playful and excellently coordinated. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.1/10 - Popularity: 12% | Activity: 13% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Pop Culture](https://www.trendhunter.com/popculture) > [Viral](https://www.trendhunter.com/viral) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Time-lapse Videos:** There is a growing trend in creating time-lapse videos to showcase labor-intensive projects in a creative and visually stunning way. - **Retro Pixelated Images:** There is a resurgence of interest in the nostalgic 8-bit pixelated images from the early days of the internet, inspiring artists and creators to incorporate them into their work. - **Collaborative Art Projects:** Collaborative art projects that involve a large number of participants are gaining popularity, creating opportunities for teamwork and creative expression. ### Who This Affects Most - **Film and Video Production:** The film and video production industry can leverage the trend of time-lapse videos to offer unique and visually captivating content for their clients. - **Art and Design:** Artists and designers in the art industry can explore the trend of retro pixelated images to create visually appealing and nostalgic artwork. - **Education:** The education industry can incorporate collaborative art projects into their curriculum to foster teamwork and creativity among students. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Retro Puzzle Block Computers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lego-fan-build.md) - [Video Game-Themed Pixel Paintings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pixel-art-collection.md) - [Nostalgic 3D-Printed Arcade Clocks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/arcade-clock.md) - [Digital Expo Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/after-utopia.md) - [Animated Game-Inspired Buildings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rainbow-road.md) - [Analog Nostalgia Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/back-to-basics-ii.md) - [Nostalgic Light Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/litebrite-worlds-of-wonder.md) - [Neon Illustation-Donned Buildings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/crafted-world-exhibition-1.md) - [Anime Robot Replica Statues](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/59foottall-gundam.md)
