# Bloody Clown Photography Tim Engle's 'Clowning Around' is Exactly Why I'm Scared of Clowns By Marissa Brassfield | Published 2009-07-19 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tim-engle-clowning-around References: [behance.net](http://www.behance.net/Gallery/Clowning-Around/268261) & [englephoto](http://englephoto.com/) Tim Engle's 'Clowning Around' might have a fun title, but the [gore and creepy settings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/eyes-never-wake) featured in the photo shoot indicate that there's something far more sinister afoot. 'Clowning Around' takes place in what looks to be an [abandoned hospital or mental institution](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/unique-stays-club). A male and female clown trade roles: nurse and patient, dead and alive, watcher and watched. Tim Engle has done an excellent job of capturing [raw emotion](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-shooting) and letting the images tell a story, but it freaks me out nevertheless. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.6/10 - Popularity: 94% | Activity: 97% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 10% men, 90% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Modern](https://www.trendhunter.com/modern) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Horror Photography:** There is an opportunity for disruptive innovation in the field of photography by combining horror elements with traditional genres. - **Creepy-themed Art:** There is a growing demand for creepy-themed art that appeals to those who enjoy unsettling aesthetics, presenting an opportunity for artists and creators to explore new styles and themes. - **Exploration of Dark Emotions:** There is potential for disruptive innovation in the exploration of dark emotions in art and visual storytelling, providing alternative perspectives and experiences for audiences. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Photography:** The field of photography can benefit from embracing unconventional and horror-inspired themes to attract new clients and create unique visual content. - **Art:** Artists and creators have an opportunity to tap into the growing market for creepy-themed art and expand their artistic expression. - **Visual Storytelling:** The realm of visual storytelling can be expanded by delving into the exploration of dark emotions, offering new and provocative narratives to engage audiences. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Distorted Burger Campaigns](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ailloween.md) - [Spooky Slasher Movie Experiences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/universal-studios-halloween-horror-nights.md) - [Surreal Art Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/jeffrey-deitch-art-gallery.md) - [Painting-Immersive Photo Exhibits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/new-ground-exhibition.md) - [Horror Film-Inspired Footwear](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/horrific-crocs.md) - [Haunted Restaurant Maps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fright-castle.md) - [Hyper-Realistic Flesh Objects](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/junji-ito.md) - [Witty Toy-Brand Horror Posters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/horror-poster.md) - [Cringe-Worthy Photo Campaigns](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cringe-or-candy.md)
