# Sustainable Country Homes The Three Oaks Farm Redefines Low-Impact Living in Sussex Countryside By Amy Duong | Published 2025-10-28 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/three-oaks-farm References: [nickwillsonarchitects](https://nickwillsonarchitects.com/) The Three Oaks Farm residence by Nick Willson Architects combines refined modern architecture with ecological responsibility. Set on a six-acre rewilded site in the Sussex countryside, the single-storey home is organized around a central courtyard that maximizes natural light and views of the surrounding landscape. Built with a highly insulated timber frame, the design incorporates solar panels, battery storage, heat recovery ventilation, and an air-source heat pump to achieve low-impact performance while maintaining a sense of comfort and luxury. The interiors feature custom joinery, reclaimed materials, and large glass openings that connect each space to meadows, native trees, and a natural swimming pond. The home’s subtle profile allows it to blend seamlessly into its environment while offering a thoughtful balance of sustainability and craftsmanship. Three Oaks Farm demonstrates how rural living can be both environmentally progressive and architecturally elegant.
