# Furniture-Revamping String Devices The Thread Wrapping Machine Weaves String Around Objects By Gil Cohen | Published 2012-10-24 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/thread-wrapping-machine References: [ignant.de](http://www.ignant.de/2012/10/24/the-thread-wrapping-machine/) Designed by Anton Alvarez, the Thread Wrapping Machine covers anything and everything in thread. Using bright festive colors, Alvarez decorates and revamps all kinds of furniture, including [benches and chairs in thread](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/yyyarn) for a new take on interior design. The thread used is coated in [white glue](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/linumtube) that dries clear, making the threads adhere securely to the furniture without having to use nails, staples or other tools to keep them in place. The wrapping creates a cool [webbing effect](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nest-lamp) around the joints and bends of the furniture. Throughout his experimentation with this machine, Alvarez has come up with several design patterns that were mostly happy accidents. The Thread Wrapping Machine spins a beautiful web of thread to create a new tactile type of furniture design. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.1/10 - Popularity: 75% | Activity: 10% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/furniture) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Thread Wrapping:** The trend of using thread wrapping techniques to revamp furniture and create unique tactile designs. - **Bright Color Decor:** The trend of using bright, festive colors to decorate and revamp furniture for an eye-catching interior design. - **Accidental Design:** The trend of embracing happy accidents and unexpected design patterns in furniture revamping using the Thread Wrapping Machine. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Interior Design:** The interior design industry can leverage the trend of thread wrapping to offer unique and visually appealing furniture options to customers. - **Textile Manufacturing:** Textile manufacturers can explore opportunities to produce specialized threads coated in glue for furniture revamping using the Thread Wrapping Machine. - **Creative Arts:** The creative arts industry can incorporate the trend of bright color decor and accidental design patterns in their furniture creations to offer innovative and visually striking pieces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Wrinkled Plastic Film-Wrapped Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/paul-coenen-1.md) - [Woven-Detailed Furniture Showcases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/woven-structures-collection.md) - [Intricately Woven Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/woven-chair-designs.md) - [Paper Cord Woven Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/woven-structures-capsule.md) - [Waste-Incorporated Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/knoll-chairs.md) - [3D Automated Knitting Machines](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/3d-knitting-machine1.md) - [Ultra-Precise Woven Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/woven-chair-design.md) - [Craft-Inspired 3D-Printing Styles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/digitally-woven.md) - [Chic Woven Furniture Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/woven-structures.md)
