The chrysanthemum were rigorously trained to take on this [dome shape](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/living-pyramid), creating a [garden marvel](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/calder-gardens) that appeared at this year's [Chrysanthemum Festival](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/uji-matcha-hydrangea-festival-2025) at Longwood Gardens in Pennsylvania. Created by Horticulturalist Yoko Arakawa, the Thousand Bloom Chrysanthemum certainly stole the show. Employing an old Japanese plant growing technique called Ozukuri, it took Arakawa 18 months to carefully train 991 blooms to grow in this miraculous manner. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.2/10 - Popularity: 46% | Activity: 73% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Eco](https://www.trendhunter.com/eco) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Horticultural Innovations:** The Thousand Bloom Chrysanthemum showcases the potential for new techniques in plant training and cultivation. - **Artistic Gardening:** The dome shape of the Thousand Bloom Chrysanthemum brings attention to the intersection of art and nature in horticulture. - **Botanical Festivals:** Events like the Chrysanthemum Festival highlight the growing popularity of showcasing unique and stunning plant varieties. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Horticulture:** The horticulture industry can explore new training methods and techniques to create novel and visually appealing plant varieties. - **Art and Design:** The art and design industry can find inspiration in the fusion of artistry and natural beauty seen in the Thousand Bloom Chrysanthemum. - **Event Planning and Tourism:** The event planning and tourism industry can capitalize on the growing demand for botanical festivals and unique natural attractions. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Blooming Clustered Art Forms](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/structural-botany.md) - [Plant-Inspired Dynamic Chandeliers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/blossom-chandelier.md) - [Vibrant Flower Puzzle Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/botanial-collection.md) - [Outdoor Floral Sculpture Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sculptures-at-kew-gardens.md) - [Flower-Centric Events](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/macys-flower-show.md) - [Impressive DIY Terrariums](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/diy-terrarium1.md) - [Luminous Park Domes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/osmanthus-moon.md) - [Water-Less Minimal Design Gardens](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/botnica.md) - [Indoor Gardening Glowing Petunias](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/firefly-petunia.md)
