This year, the Biennale is commemorating the 500th anniversary of the classic philosophical text 'Utopia' by Sir Thomas More. As such, The Wish Machine plays on the idea of utopian desires. The interactive installation, which takes place in a room covered with [mirrors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mirroring-dialogue), is a series of clear, hexagonal pneumatic tubes that surround visitors as they walk through. Eventually, visitors will reach a dead end where they can write a wish on a piece of paper and slip it into a suction-point in one of the tubes, never to see it again. As visitors walk back through the exhibit, they will realize that they were walking through the infinitely reflected wishes of those who came before them. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.4/10 - Popularity: 41% | Activity: 24% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Art Installations:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Creating immersive and interactive art installations that engage visitors on a sensory and emotional level. - **Interactive Experiences:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Developing interactive experiences that encourage active participation and dialogue between visitors, creating a unique and unforgettable event. - **Utopian Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Exploring utopian design concepts that push the boundaries of imagination and challenge traditional notions of reality and possibility. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Art and Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Leveraging technology and unconventional materials to transform traditional art and design practices, fostering new forms of creativity and expression. - **Tourism and Events:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Incorporating interactive and immersive experiences into tourism and event offerings, creating memorable and engaging experiences for visitors. - **Philosophy and Literature:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Combining philosophy and literature with technology and art to create thought-provoking experiences that challenge conventional thinking and inspire new ideas. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Pop-Up Vending Machines](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pop-up-vending-machine.md) - [Embassy Wait-Representing Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/water-clock-installation.md) - [Digital Expo Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/after-utopia.md) - [Site Specific Mixed-Media Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dreamsphere.md) - [Hanging Portal-Like Art Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/duo-installation.md) - [Mesmerizing Fluid Art Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flow-fountain.md) - [Revolving Bright Kinetic Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/library-of-light.md) - [Wonderous Art Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/your-psychoacoustic-light-ensemble.md) - [Tubed Immersive Organ-Like Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/organlike-installation.md)
