# Sharply Designed Office Supplies The Handy Twist Pencil Sharpener Conforms to Different Diameters By Amelia Roblin | Published 2013-02-07 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-twist-pencil-sharpener References: [yankodesign](http://www.yankodesign.com/2013/02/06/takes-in-any-size-baby/) & [behance.net](http://www.behance.net/gallery/twist-red-dot-design-concept-2012-winner/5360787) The Twist Pencil Sharpener does not discriminate against different graphite-based writing utensils based on size; it expands and contracts quite cleverly in order to accommodate every dull-ended scribbler in your [pencil case](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dumpstuder-pencil-holders). Its looped and double-layered design requires just a gentle pinch from the fingers holding it in order to bring slender writing utensils to fine points. For broader graphite doodlers and pencil crayons, Abhishek Anupam's ductile [desk accessory](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stilo75-pen-holder) simply expands to facilitate their insertion. Two other features of the Twist Pencil Sharpener make it even more innovative: a symmetrical design provides a [pair of blades](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hakoake-portable-scissors) so that the user can chisel down conical tips by turning their implements in either direction; a full-length slit along one side of the little carver lets you easily remove broken leads so that they don't get jammed inside. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.6/10 - Popularity: 23% | Activity: 46% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Gen Alpha, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Flexible Desk Accessories:** Opportunity to create office supplies that can adapt to different tools and materials. - **Dual-bladed Sharpeners:** Innovative sharpeners that can handle different sizes of writing materials in both directions. - **Slit Removable Sharpeners:** Sharpeners with easy-to-remove features to avoid jams and mess. ### Where This Applies - **Office Supplies:** Opportunities to create novel office supplies. - **Stationery Manufacturing:** Innovation opportunities for stationery manufacturing. - **Design and Engineering:** Engineering-driven innovation opportunities for designing cutting-edge desk supplies. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Vertical Pencil Sharpening Tools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pencil-sharpener-1.md) - [Seamless Silicone Pens](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/twist-pen.md) - [Self-Sharpening Coloring Pencils](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/infinity-colouring-pencils.md) - [Recycled Plastic Writing Utensils](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mechanical-drop-pencil.md) - [Unique Writing Instruments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/graphite-paintbrush-writing-instrument.md) - [Spinning Desk Sharpeners](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ferfereh.md) - [Stone-Grip Conical Pencils](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aluminum-sphere.md) - [Three-in-One Writing Utensils](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tp-pen.md) - [Sculptural Writing Tools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/experimental-pencils.md)
