# Modern Tub Hybrids The Symbiosis Tub Design by Desnahemisfera Connects a Sink with a Bathtub By Lacey-Jane Walsh | Published 2014-01-22 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-symbiosis References: [trendir](http://www.trendir.com/archives/007525.html) & [desnahemisfera](http://www.desnahemisfera.com/) The Symbiosis tub design by Desnahemisfera connects a bathtub with a sink to create a stunningly modern bathroom hybrid. Symbiosis essentially means prolonged contact between two different species, which makes it a fitting name for this bathroom project. Sinks and bathtubs perform different functions, but this sleek design fuses them together. Mounted at the front of this tub is a [faucet](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/omnibath) and a [small squarish sink](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/volta-1). The sinks plumbing is actually hidden within the body of the tub. The tub portion of this design incorporates built-in speakers by the headrest area, which is the kind of feature you'd expect to find at a [resort or a spa](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/oasis-collection-1). This modern bathtub hybrid is perfect for homeowners who love minimalist fixtures. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.5/10 - Popularity: 94% | Activity: 62% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Modern Tub Hybrids:** The Symbiosis Tub Design by Desnahemisfera connects a sink with a bathtub, creating a versatile and space-saving bathroom fixture. - **Sleek Bathroom Designs:** The integration of sinks and bathtubs in the Symbiosis tub design demonstrates an opportunity for sleek and streamlined bathroom designs. - **Multi-functional Fixtures:** The inclusion of built-in speakers and hidden plumbing in the Symbiosis tub design highlights the trend of multi-functional fixtures in bathroom design. ### Where This Applies - **Bathroom Fixtures:** The Symbiosis tub design presents an opportunity for innovation and disruption in the bathroom fixtures industry. - **Home Design and Renovation:** The modern bathtub hybrid trend opens up opportunities for designers and contractors in the home design and renovation industry to create unique and functional bathroom spaces for clients. - **Hospitality and Spa:** The inclusion of spa-like features in the Symbiosis tub design suggests potential for disruptive innovation in the hospitality and spa industry. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Collaborative Seashell-Like Sinks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spire-washbasin.md) - [Rounded Hydromassage Tubs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aretusa-tub-by-claudio-papa.md) - [Removable Bathtub Spaces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bathtrope.md) - [Japanese Snack Box-Inspired Bathtubs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bento-starck-box.md) - [Slick Bathroom Sinks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/slick-bathroom-sink.md) - [Customizable Minimalist Bathtubs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/acquabella-noon-slate.md) - [Ultra-Modern Freestanding Sinks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/freestanding-sink.md) - [Hardwood Based Bathtubs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/beam-bathtub.md) - [Museum-Like Bathroom Fixtures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/face-face-bathroom-collection.md)
