Created by Christie Young of GOOD.is, the illustrated guide takes you through the steps of a [house-sitting experience](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hiders-keepers) gone wrong, starting with inevitably forgetting your contact solution and socks at home before leaving for the weekend. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who has "borrowed" a friend's dress while they're out, without asking, only to spill something on it, as one of the steps in this guide illustrates. Like all of Christie Young's work, 'The Rules of House-Sitting' is full of [hilariously honest situations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cushiest-internship-in-america) that often make for awkward scenarios at the time, but are always funny to look back on. Check out 'The Rules of House-Sitting' for a laugh, and keep these steps in mind next time you're considering potential house-sitters! ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.1/10 - Popularity: 22% | Activity: 33% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 10% men, 90% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Lifestyle](https://www.trendhunter.com/lifestyle) > [Life](https://www.trendhunter.com/life) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **House-sitting:** Disruptive innovation opportunities in providing technology solutions for house-sitters to enhance their experience and prevent common mishaps. - **Humorous Guides:** Disruptive innovation opportunities in creating entertaining and relatable guides for various aspects of everyday life. - **Awkward Scenarios:** Disruptive innovation opportunities in developing solutions to help people navigate and cope with uncomfortable situations. ### Where This Applies - **Hospitality:** Disruptive innovation opportunities in offering unique and personalized house-sitting services to cater to different preferences and needs. - **Entertainment:** Disruptive innovation opportunities in producing comedic content and interactive experiences that resonate with audiences. - **Home Security:** Disruptive innovation opportunities in creating innovative technologies and systems to enhance the safety and security of homes during house-sitting periods. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Affordably Decorated Getaways](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/house-of-homegoods.md) - [Cheeky Parenting Prostration Books](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/horizontal-parenting.md) - [Playful Pet Accident Campaigns](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dont-worry-you-can-afford-it.md) - [Humorous Parenting Guides](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/eat-pray-cry.md) - [Whimsical Home Tours](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-pillsbury-doughboy.md) - [Lifesize 90s Doll Experiences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/polly-pockets-compact.md) - [Fridge-Decorating Trend Guides](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fridgescaping-practices.md) - [Haunting Film-Based Experiences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/deetz-residence.md) - [Cheese-Themed Entertaining Guides](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/that-cheese-plate-wants-to-party.md)
