# Rotating Park Benches The Rolling Bench Can Be Rotated To Provide You With A Dry Seat By Rahul Kalvapalle | Published 2014-11-14 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-rolling-bench References: [gizmag](http://www.gizmag.com/rolling-park-bench-rotating-dry/34660/) & [sungwoopark.co.kr](http://www.sungwoopark.co.kr/) The rolling bench is an incredibly cute and thoughtfully designed [park bench](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/floating-bench), designed by Korean designer Sung Woo Park, whose seating surface can be rotated by turning a handle. No more awkwardly sitting on newspapers -- now if you're walking around in the park soon after a [rain shower](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/raindrop-1), you can still have a sit-down without wetting your derriere. Simply rotate the handle on the side of the bench, and the [slatted seating area rotates](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/diy-spinning-coffee-table). Sung Woo Park has long been a marvelously creative designer with a flair for out-of-the-box creations. He has previously designed a very small USB-stick camera, a universal remote that operates much like a deck of playing cards and an LED desk lamp that is capable of using up the power left over in spare batteries. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.1/10 - Popularity: 42% | Activity: 14% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Rotating Furniture:** Innovative rotating furniture designs like the rolling bench are seeing growing interest and use in public spaces. - **Sustainable Design:** Increasingly, designers are incorporating sustainable principles into products and structures and reducing waste in a bid to decrease the environmental impact of human activity. - **Outdoor Furniture:** There is a growing demand for outdoor public seating that is comfortable, weatherproof and able to provide a range of seating options, and rotating benches offer a unique solution to this problem. ### Where This Applies - **Park Furniture:** Manufacturers of park furniture are exploring ways to enhance the user experience by offering innovative seating options that cater to a range of weather and seating requirements. - **Urban Design:** Urban designers are increasingly incorporating responsive structures and public spaces that can adapt to changing weather conditions and promote sustainable living. - **Product Design:** Innovative product designers are exploring new materials and design concepts to create products that meet the needs of modern consumers and create new markets. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Rotating Solar Powered Benches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/eness-1.md) - [Bold Motion Bench Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wheelbench-krllermller-edition.md) - [Kinetic Musical Benches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/musical-bench.md) - [Dual-Seated Plate Aluminum Benches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/move-a-little-bit-further.md) - [Adaptable Outdoor Seat Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/monom-seater-concept.md) - [Bike-Friendly Outdoor Benches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pinajarro-bench.md) - [Seesaw-Like Playful Benches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/balance-bench.md) - [Adaptive Public Seating](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/adp-bench.md) - [Urban Solar Charging Benches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/perovia.md)
