# Robot Greek Goddesses 'The Rise of Discord' by Broton is Mechanical Version of Eris By Marissa Brassfield | Published 2009-02-15 | Tech Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-rise-of-discord-broton References: [neatorama](http://www.neatorama.com/2009/02/15/the-rise-of-discord-by-greg-brotherton/) & [brotron](http://www.brotron.com/main/main.html) 'The Rise of Discord' is an exceptionally beautiful [robot sculpture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/g1t4m1n1-droid) by Greg Brotherton of Brotron. It depicts Eris, the [Greek goddess](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bronze-goddess-aegea) of discord, rivalry, strife, and contention. If it's been awhile since you last studied Greek mythology, she was frequently associated with the perils of war and was said to derive great pleasure from human bloodshed. With this mythological background, it's perfectly natural that 'The Rise of Discord' is constructed of steel and resembles a sexed-up suit of armor. The [mechanical skeleton](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/figure-03) is fully functional and covered with a framework of steel words, according to Brotron. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.0/10 - Popularity: 42% | Activity: 40% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Robots](https://www.trendhunter.com/robots) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Robot Sculpture:** Artists and designers are exploring the potential of robotic sculptures, creating immersive experiences and pushing the boundaries of traditional art forms. - **Mythological Inspiration:** From Greek gods to Norse mythology, creatives are finding inspiration in ancient stories and incorporating them into modern designs for a new generation of audiences. - **Functional Art:** Functional art pieces that not only serve a visual purpose but also have practical uses are becoming more common, merging form and function into unique designs. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Art:** Art galleries and museums can explore the use of robotic sculptures to create dynamic and interactive exhibits that engage visitors in new and exciting ways. - **Design:** Designers can draw from mythological stories to create unique and compelling pieces that tell a story and capture the imagination of audiences. - **Entertainment:** The entertainment industry can explore the use of functional robotic sculptures in events, performances, and productions to create memorable experiences and enhance the sensory impact of their shows. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Mythological Beauty Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/goddess-collection.md) - [Greek Mythology-Themed Tequilas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/asombroso.md) - [Golden Humanoid Prototypes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/optimus-25.md) - [Visually Morphing Muses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/glitchy-bitches.md) - [Goddess Statue-Inspired Decor](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/venus-vase.md) - [Bipedal Automation Robots](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/openai-eve.md) - [Artful Anime-Blending Split Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/split-bust.md) - [Primal-Themed Bronze Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-return.md) - [AI-Powered Customer Service](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/engage.md)
