The film, which will be set in [Marvel's](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/deadpool-wolverine1) X-Men universe, will fall under the category of [horror](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/universal-horror-unleashed) -- a massive stylistic jump from the other super hero movies in Marvel's stable. Most super hero movies stick close to the model set up by the comic books that inspired them. They're light, with bloodless violence and fun action that makes them suitable for kids. Movies like 'Deadpool' and 'Logan' strayed slightly from that formula, offering up R-rated fare, but those films are still either comedy or action in terms of genre. The New Mutants brings an interesting, heretofore unseen spin on superpowers. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.6/10 - Popularity: 22% | Activity: 19% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Pop Culture](https://www.trendhunter.com/popculture) > [Media](https://www.trendhunter.com/media) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Exploring Horror Genre:** Opportunity for creating super hero movies that delve into horror, offering a unique twist to the genre. - **Stylistic Innovation:** Potential for introducing new stylistic elements in super hero movies, branching out from the traditional comic book formula. - **Expanding Superhero Universe:** Chance to expand the X-Men universe by exploring different genres and attracting new audiences. ### Where This Applies - **Film Production:** Disruptive innovation opportunity for film production companies to create unique and groundbreaking superhero movies. - **Entertainment:** Opportunity for the entertainment industry to offer fresh and captivating superhero experiences to audiences craving new twists on the genre. - **Comics and Graphic Novels:** Potential for comics and graphic novel publishers to experiment with blending different genres, such as horror, with traditional superhero narratives. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Superhero-Inspired Popcorn Buckets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/deadpool-wolverine1.md) - [Horror-Themed Virtual Islands](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/talk-to-me.md) - [Superhero Headquarter Puzzle Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/xmansion.md) - [Superhero-Inspired Wristwatches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/deadpool-and-wolverine-1.md) - [Comic Book Hero Collectibles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/comic-book-heros.md) - [Collectible Cosplay Condiments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/heinz-ketchup-and-mustard.md) - [Comic-Inspired Gaming Consoles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/xmen-97-xbox.md) - [Superhero-Inspired LEGO Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/marvel-superhero-lego-toys.md) - [Upcoming Dark Superhero Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spiderman-noir.md)
