# Playful Macaron Lamps These Bright Geometric Lamps are Inspired by an Italian Design Idea By Ady Floyd | Published 2015-05-11 | Updated 2015-05-14 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-macaron-lamps References: [design-milk](http://design-milk.com/macarons-lamps-inspired-memphis-movement/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter) & [ad-g.it](http://www.ad-g.it/ver11/portfolio/macarons-table-lamps/) Named after the tasty dessert, these macaron lamps are a direct reflection of the brightly colored treats. The name originates from the base of the lamp which looks exactly like a macaron. The light is then topped with a wild, eye-catching, [geometric lampshade](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/polyshape-lamp) stemming off of the [Memphis Movement](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/italian-radical-design) theme. The Memphis Movement is a design term coined in Milan, Italy and is used to describe post-modern decor pieces. Each piece is brightly colored and visually striking. They often come in the form of textiles, furniture, clocks and in this case -- lights. Designer Davide G. Aquini worked with Progetti in Luce to create this [table lamp collection](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/horizon-table-light). Using American tulipwood and a funky patterned lampshade, the collection is limited-edition. The Macarons lamps are on display at the 2015 Ventura Lambrate. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.4/10 - Popularity: 8% | Activity: 26% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Bright Colored Decor:** Opportunity for businesses to create visually striking and brightly colored decor pieces. - **Post-modern Lighting:** Opportunity to design post-modern lighting fixtures inspired by the Memphis Movement. - **Limited-edition Collections:** Opportunity to create and market limited-edition lamp collections that offer unique and exclusive designs. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Interior Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity for interior design firms to incorporate bold and vibrant decor elements. - **Lighting Manufacturing:** Opportunity for lighting manufacturers to develop post-modern lighting fixtures that combine functionality and artistic design. - **Furniture Retail:** Disruptive innovation opportunity for furniture retailers to offer limited-edition lamp collections that cater to unique design preferences. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Gelato-Inspired Lamp Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gelato-lamp.md) - [Pasta-Inspired Curvaceous Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/neotenic-lamp.md) - [Colorful 3D-Printed Portable Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/portable-soft-serve-lamp.md) - [Perforated LED Table Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lume.md) - [Japanese Lantern-Inspired Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/madco.md) - [Baked Good-Inspired Lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/croissant-pendant.md) - [Adjustable Playful Table Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flos.md) - [80s-Inspired Ceramic Lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flaming-stars.md) - [Artistic Magnetic Lamp Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/scacco-matto-lamp.md)
