Local design studio Parsonson Architects creates the Lookout, which is a cozy home located on the hillside of Ruby Bay in New Zealand's Tasman District. The home is defined by warm tones with a timber structure resting on top of a partially elevated site to respond to the sloped location. The home is painted red at the cladding and finished with weathered steel for a captivating exterior.

The founder of the studio, Gerald Parsonson speaks to Dezeen about the project, noting "The core concept behind the design is to create a simple form, with a [hard and weathered outer skin](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hytte-riverview) protecting warm interior spaces filled with natural materials and colour. Structural elements of exposed concrete blocks anchor the house into the site, contrasting with the interior delicacy of [timber framed construction](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/balmoral-hillside-house) and finer detailing."
