# Simple Streetlight Umbrellas The Lamprella is Romantic and Futuristic By Andrew Robertson | Published 2012-06-27 | Unique Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-lamprella References: [yankodesign](http://www.yankodesign.com/2012/06/27/shade-under-the-lampbrella/) & [homeinteriornews](http://homeinteriornews.com/design-technology/shade-under-the-lampbrella.html) Conceptual designer Mikhail Belyaev once again creates something that will hopefully be a staple in future architecture and design with the Lampbrella. Rather than dreading the lack of umbrella when storm clouds amass, the Lampbrella makes any nearby [streetlight](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bloomlight-s-lamp) a local shelter against the [falling rain](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mobidry). The concept design involves water detection and motion sensing capabilities which trigger the [opening and closing of the umbrella](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/split-1). The design would be a great addition to any futuristic society, as would Mikhail's other fantastic concepts. The world according to Belyaev would be a place where design exudes sophistication, functionality and social interaction. What could make for a beautiful "how we met story" than coming together and sharing the space under a Lampbrella while waiting for the storm to pass. Romance and futurism can go hand in hand. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.3/10 - Popularity: 14% | Activity: 47% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Unique](https://www.trendhunter.com/unique) > [Inventions](https://www.trendhunter.com/inventions) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Smart Streetlight Design:** There is an opportunity to create streetlights that are not just for lighting, but also for shelter and convenience purposes. - **Integration of Technology in Everyday Objects:** There is an opportunity to incorporate technology with everyday objects, like umbrellas, to improve functionality. - **Public Space Interaction Design:** Designing public spaces to encourage social interaction like sharing shelter under the Lamprella has potential for future urban planning. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Urban Planning:** Urban planning professionals can explore incorporating smart streetlight designs as part of city infrastructure. - **Smart Technology:** Smart umbrella manufacturers can look into integrating smart technology features like water detection and motion sensing for automatic opening and closing of the umbrella. - **Outdoor Furniture and Design:** Manufacturers of outdoor furniture can consider incorporating tech and functionality features to their products for added convenience and function like the Lampbrella design. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Connected Dual Functioning Umbrellas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hulasol.md) - [Umbrella-Inspired Whimsical Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wasaga-lamp.md) - [Flying Umbrella Prototypes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flying-umbrella.md) - [Space-Inspired Folding Umbrellas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bloombrella.md) - [Rainwater Multifunctional Planters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/raindrop-1.md) - [Artful Sculptural Umbrella Stands](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/inbetween-umbrella.md) - [Wall-Mounted Umbrella Stands](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/umbrella-1.md) - [OLED Weather Umbrellas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ori-umbrella.md) - [Branch-Like Umbrella Stands](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aghsan.md)
