# Intimate Spherical Seats The Hug Chair Provides Personal Space for Affectionate Moments By Matt Ho | Published 2011-06-15 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-hug-chair References: [contemporist](http://www.contemporist.com/2011/06/15/the-hug-chair-by-gabriella-asztalos/) & [hugchair](http://www.hugchair.com/) The Hug Chair by Gabriella Asztalos is an ultra sleek, [curvaceous seating](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gomo-armchair) that's got a brilliant concept behind it. The [free-flowing ring shape](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chunk-doughnut-chair) of the Hug Chair was designed specifically to allow two people to have their own intimate moments. Sitting down on the seat with a close friend or a loved one will put you in a face-to-face position that's perfect when you want to break away from the crowd. The shape is absolutely stunning and is a beautiful representation of what [contemporary designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/knoll-perron-bun) are all about. I love everything about the Hug Chair from the design to the concept. It employs the concept of privacy without complete seclusion, which is a perfect balance that works well in a variety of environments. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.8/10 - Popularity: 59% | Activity: 18% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Spherical Seating:** The Hug Chair is part of a trend towards unique and unconventional seating designs that prioritize personal space and intimacy. - **Intimate Moments:** The Hug Chair reflects a trend in design that caters to the need for intimate and private spaces, even in public settings. - **Contemporary Designs:** The Hug Chair exemplifies the trend of contemporary designs that combine aesthetic appeal with functional innovation. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Furniture Design:** The Hug Chair presents opportunities for furniture designers to create unique and eye-catching seating solutions that prioritize personal space and comfort. - **Hospitality:** The Hug Chair can revolutionize the hospitality industry by providing guests with private and intimate seating options that enhance their experience. - **Event Planning:** The Hug Chair can be a valuable addition to event planning, offering attendees a cozy and intimate seating option that encourages social interaction. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Enveloping Nested Layer Armchairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-hug-armchair.md) - [Intertwined Wooden Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hug-chair-1.md) - [Curved Comfort Seating](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mysa.md) - [Sculptural Cocooned Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/introvert-chair.md) - [High-Back Embracing Sofas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cozmo-hug.md) - [Cocoon Lounge Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-introvert-chair.md) - [Minimalist Privacy Seating Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/furniture-seat-design.md) - [Comforting Designer Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/calma-lounge-by-layer.md) - [Relaxed Anti-Distraction Seats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fortune-chair.md)
