Designed by Stemmer Rodrigues, the Fig House appears to overhang on top of a [natural rock formation](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/las-rocas). The [concrete house](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/oeiras-house) is located near Porto Alegre, Brazil. It is configured to protect the roots of a centennial fig tree, giving the house its name.

The large stone formation conceals a single column that supports the upper level of the home. The design creates a contrast between the building's smooth finish and the natural stones' rugged façade. Sliding glass walls offer the home's dwellers an undisrupted view towards a nearby canal. The Fig House pays homage to its surrounding landscape by incorporating aspects of nature into its design. Rodrigues creates a sense of harmony between nature and man-fabricated structures.
