The company has a variety of existing sign shapes onto which [custom words and messages](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/personalized-light-art) can be printed. The striking marquee signs are handmade in the USA. Each sign is crafted out of rough-hewn wood which is hand-painted, distressed and wrapped in a painted, distressed metal frame. They are illuminated by ‘C-7 Clear Globe’ marquee lights that are embedded in the wooden signage design. The lights come with an electric cord that fits standard American home outlets. The Electric Moon project came about when artist Joni Nickrent and her husband, Tom, were trying to figure out a fun way to brighten up a corner in their house. They eventually decided to create a star-shaped marquee light-up sign. The resulting sign was so warm and vibrant that they decided to begin making the signs on a larger scale. In fact, the Trend Hunter team loved these vintage-inspired signs so much that we couldn’t resist getting one for our office. The custom work by The Electric Moon really shows, as the [handmade fixtures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/customizable-lighting-fixtures) truly are unique and look one-of-a-kind. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.9/10 - Popularity: 100% | Activity: 100% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Vintage-inspired Light-up Signage:** Opportunity to create unique and customizable vintage-inspired light-up signs for businesses and homeowners. - **Handmade Decorative Fixtures:** Opportunity to capitalize on the growing market demand for handmade decorative fixtures that add a touch of nostalgia and uniqueness to spaces. - **Carnival-inspired Design:** Opportunity to incorporate elements of American carnival culture into product designs, creating a sense of nostalgia and playfulness. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Home Decor:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop a line of vintage-inspired light-up signs to capture the growing demand for unique and customizable home decor items. - **Event Planning:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Offer customized vintage marquee signs for weddings, parties, and special events, adding a unique and memorable touch to venues. - **Interior Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Incorporate handmade decorative fixtures with carnival-inspired design elements into interior design projects, creating visually striking spaces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Dazzling Gradient Lighting Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/star-bulb.md) - [Lighting-Restoring Studios](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vintage-lighting.md) - [Eclipse-Inspired Whimsical Pendant Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/space-traveler.md) - [Y2K-Inspired Neon Light Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/neon-light-art.md) - [Moon-Inspired Lighting Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lua.md) - [Astronaut Night Light Projectors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/night-light-projectors.md) - [80s-Inspired Ceramic Lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flaming-stars.md) - [Material-Exploring Industrial-Style Lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/industrialstyle-lighting.md) - [Moon-Inspired Column Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/column-lights.md)
