# Teardrop Magazine Racks The Drop Magazine Stand Prevents Dog-Eared Reading Materials By Elise Ying-Hei Ho | Published 2012-12-24 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-drop-magazine-stand References: [yankodesign](http://www.yankodesign.com/2012/12/21/drops-of-functionality/) & [designest.co.il](http://www.designest.co.il/work.php) Israel-based design firm Designtest provides an elegant solution to dog-eared books and magazines with The Drop magazine stand. Typical stands simply hold a bunch of books, newspapers and magazines together that often end up getting jumbled into one large messy pile anyway. Shaped like a tear, The Drop magazine stand's angled top lets readers rest their reading material on top of the stand without having to fold pages over as bookmarks. The teardrop perch has a deceptive round bottom, but actually rests perfectly stable on the floor with its subtle support on both sides. The slim design of the [wooden stand](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/inbetween-umbrella) allows users in smaller apartments to save space for other [quirky home decor](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chapters-furniture) as well. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.6/10 - Popularity: 27% | Activity: 44% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Home](https://www.trendhunter.com/home) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Elegant Magazine Storage:** Designing magazine stands with sleek and functional designs. - **Innovative Bookmark Solutions:** Creating unique ways for readers to mark their place in books and magazines without damaging the pages. - **Space-saving Home Decor:** Developing compact and versatile furniture and decor solutions for smaller living spaces. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Furniture Design:** Opportunity for designers to create stylish and practical storage solutions for magazines and other reading materials. - **Publishing:** Scope for publishers to explore new bookmarking ideas that enhance the reading experience and minimize damage to books and magazines. - **Interior Design:** Potential for interior designers to incorporate space-saving furniture and decor items into their projects, catering to smaller apartment living. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Reading Book Stands](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/penguin-x-moebe.md) - [Versatile Book Displays](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/penguin-x-moebe-book-stand.md) - [Book-Storing Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bookgroove-bookrack.md) - [Tubular Literature Storage Racks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/interspace-magazine-rack.md) - [Book-Shaped Transparent Bookmarks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/transparent-bookmark.md) - [Minimally Engineered Bookends](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/firm-book-end.md) - [Dynamic Architecturally Strong Bookshelves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dogma.md) - [Rainwater Multifunctional Planters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/raindrop-1.md) - [Compact Functional Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bookmarker-table.md)
