# Unique Cascading Saunas The Bands is a Spa Experience Designed by a Group of Design Students By Meghan Young | Published 2015-06-30 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-bands References: [swipelife](http://swipelife.com/2015/06/the-bands-a-sauna-by-the-sea-from-the-oslo-school-of-architecture-and-design-students/) & [scs.aho.no](http://scs.aho.no/) The Bands is not to be confused with anything musically-inspired. Instead, it refers to a [unique sauna experience](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/thermasol-1) designed by Students from the [Oslo School of Architecture and Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/trosten-floating-sauna). Located by the sea with the Norwegian mountain landscape as its backdrop, The Bands form long wooden lines down a rocky surface, which most likely inspired its name. Complete with a [sunken hot tub](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fjord-floating-sauna) and picnic terrace, The Bands was initiated by the Scarcity and Creativity Studio, a design studio within the mentioned Oslo School. It provides a relaxing destination that is quite different from similar spas. Swipelife writes, "This one of a kind sauna is located on the quay of Lofoten which used to be a fishing village. The whole thing looks like some kind of three separate cabins that reference the three present structures on the quay." ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.4/10 - Popularity: 82% | Activity: 72% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Architecture](https://www.trendhunter.com/architecture) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Unique Sauna Experiences:** The trend of designing and creating unique sauna experiences like The Bands offers opportunities for businesses in the spa and wellness industry to stand out and attract customers with something new and different. - **Sustainable Design:** The Bands' design incorporates sustainability and respect for nature by weaving the structure into the rocky landscape, creating an opportunity for companies in the architecture and construction industries to focus on sustainable practices. - **Collaborative Design Studios:** The creation of The Bands by the Scarcity and Creativity Studio highlights the trend of collaborative design studios where students and professionals can come together to create innovative and unique projects. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Spa and Wellness:** Innovative and unique sauna experiences like The Bands offer opportunities for businesses in the spa and wellness industry to stand out and attract customers with something new and different. - **Architecture and Construction:** The Bands' design incorporates sustainability and respect for nature by weaving the structure into the rocky landscape, creating an opportunity for companies in the architecture and construction industries to focus on sustainable practices. - **Design Education:** The creation of The Bands by the Scarcity and Creativity Studio highlights the importance of design education in fostering innovative and collaborative projects in a variety of industries. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Floating Sauna Pavilions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/watercave.md) - [Reflection-Inducing Floating Saunas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/trosten-floating-sauna.md) - [View-Overlooking Portable Wooden Saunas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/saunabivak.md) - [Floating Travelling Saunas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/big-branzino.md) - [Tranquil Reimagined Wellness Resorts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ziedlejas.md) - [Timber Sauna Structures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/jonas-sauna.md) - [Scandinavian-Inspired Wellness Saunas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/thermasol-1.md) - [Modern Mobile Sauna Cabins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aquila-sauna.md) - [Contemporary Public Bathhouses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/round-about-baths.md)
