# Full Sensory Motion Controllers The STEM System Can Track All of Your Bodily Movements By Thomas Wade-West | Published 2013-09-17 | Tech Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-STEM-system References: [eurogamer.net](http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013-09-12-sixenses-five-piece-motion-tracking-controller-stem-takes-to-kickstarter) & [polygon](http://www.polygon.com/2013/9/12/4720874/sixense-launches-kickstarter-campaign-for-wireless-motion-tracker) Developer Sixense has launched a five-part [motion-tracking](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/motion controller called the STEM System. This motion-controlled system is able to track all bodily movements through the five modules that are attached to each limb of the player’s body. The controller is to be used in conjunction with current and next-generation gaming systems, which feature games that enable motion-tracking (basketball, ping-pong, FPS, and so forth). Sixense explains that this system is unlike any of the current systems because of much higher tracking quality, longer range in wireless operation and lower latency. Unlike other systems currently available, re-calibrating your device is not an issue due to the extensive modules that are included in the package. The attached video demonstrates the wide range of functions of the Sixense STEM System with a video game that allows players to walk, throw, kick, and grasp objects. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.2/10 - Popularity: 5% | Activity: 24% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 90% men, 10% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Gadgets](https://www.trendhunter.com/gadgets) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Full Body Motion Tracking:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop advanced gaming systems that can track all bodily movements for an enhanced immersive experience. - **High-quality Motion Controllers:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Create motion controllers with higher tracking quality, longer wireless range, and lower latency for improved gaming experiences. - **Seamless Device Calibration:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Design motion-controlled systems that eliminate the need for frequent re-calibration through extensive modules and advanced tracking technology. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Gaming:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Integrate full body motion tracking technology into gaming consoles and develop new motion-controlled games for an immersive gameplay experience. - **Virtual Reality:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Incorporate high-quality motion controllers with seamless device calibration into virtual reality systems to enhance user engagement and interactions. - **Fitness and Sports Training:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Utilize full body motion tracking technology in fitness and sports training devices to monitor and analyze movements for more effective workouts and training sessions. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Full-Body Motion-Tracking Devices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/refract-technologies.md) - [Full-Body Motion-Tracking Game Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rebuff-reality-bodylink.md) - [Lightweight Full-Body Tracking Wearables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/slimevr.md) - [Avatar Motion Controllers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/alt-motion-controller.md) - [Avatar Motion-Capture Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mocopi-1.md) - [Wireless Full-Body Tracking Devices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/haritorax.md) - [Motion-Tracking Ring Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/suite-of-technological-tools.md) - [Facial Movement Game Controllers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gameface.md) - [Full-Body-Tracking VR Rigs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/omni-one-core.md)
