# Mock Apocalyptic Blockbuster Teasers The TETRIS Movie Trailer is a Great B-Film Story Pitch By Andrew Robertson | Published 2012-05-28 | Tech Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tetris-movie-trailer References: [obviouswinner](http://www.obviouswinner.com/obvwin/2012/5/25/tetris-the-movie-trailer-that-is-about-to-destroy-earth.html) & [youtube](http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=AhwGEa7507g) Combining elements from such classic and upcoming movies as Independence Day, The Day the Earth Stood Still and Prometheus, the TETRIS Movie Trailer is a funny and stimulating mock teaser. In response to Battleship, the film based on the navy warfare board game, Warialasky decided that [Tetris](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tetris-fully-loaded) would also make for a viable [Hollywood](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hollywoodthemed-games) movie pitch. From the minute and half video it appears that earth has come under attack by a force of invading block sculptures. The absurd nature of the idea is playfully exaggerated as the characters within the trailer demand answers, fight to stay alive and protect their loved ones. If this truly were a teaser at an upcoming film I wouldn't be surprised if I found it in the straight to DVD bin. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 0.9/10 - Popularity: 7% | Activity: 12% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Games](https://www.trendhunter.com/games) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Mock Apocalyptic Blockbusters:** Future potential of movies that combine absurdity with classic sci-fi elements for comedic purposes. - **Board Games as Movie Inspiration:** Opportunity for film industry to create big screen adaptations from unconventional sources. - **Satirical Movie Trailers:** Potential for humorous movie trailers that lampoon pop culture and media trends. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Film and Entertainment:** Opportunity to create unconventional movies that blend established genres and subvert expectations. - **Board Game Industry:** Chance for game companies to explore licensing opportunities and merchandising deals with Hollywood studios. - **Comedy Content:** Potential to create parody and satirical content that plays with film tropes and conventions. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Game-Inspired Playable Puzzle Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tetris-solid.md) - [Horror Film-Inspired Brick Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ideas-jaws-set.md) - [Blockish Oversized Stacking Games](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tetris-tumble-xl.md) - [Spoof Sci-Fi Beer Ads](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/liquid-death-x-rebel-moon.md) - [Cinematic GenAI Campaigns](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-knowit-alls.md) - [Toy Brick-Made Festive Trailers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/herding-home-for-the-holiday.md) - [Creative Hollywood-Themed Games](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hollywoodthemed-games.md) - [Block Game Collaborative Projects](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tetris-collaboration.md) - [Experimental Film Motels](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mountain-dew-borderlands-motel.md)
