# Shipping Container Testing Centers Grimshaw's Prefab Structures Were Made for Mass Health Testing By Laura McQuarrie | Published 2020-06-04 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/testing-centers References: [dezeen](https://www.dezeen.com/2020/06/03/grimshaw-shipping-container-coronavirus-testing-centres/) & [grimshaw.global](https://grimshaw.global/) As it became clear that hospitals were becoming overwhelmed with incoming patients, pop-up sites and testing centers were rapidly created to maintain public health during a global pandemic. For healthcare company Osang and SG Blocks, [Grimshaw](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/metro-transit-center-station) developed plans for a range of [prefabricated testing centers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/medical-infrastructure-delivery) that take the form of shipping containers. Osang needed a solution for its GeneFinder Covid-19 Plus Real Amp Kit, which is designed to catch symptoms early and delivers results in under 2.5 hours but relies on a laboratory. As such, the [shipping container system](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kennedy-model) includes D-Tec 2 lab and collection units, as well as smaller D-Tec 1 units with moveable components for separation and transportation.
