# Flowery Tree Trunk Houses The Terunobu Fujimori Kiyoharu Shirakaba Museum House is Floral By Jordy E | Published 2014-04-09 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/terunobu-fujimori References: [mymodernmet](http://www.mymodernmet.com/profiles/blogs/tetsu-teahouse-hokuto-japan) & [facebook](https://www.facebook.com/pages/Terunobu-Fujimori/73684226350) Architect Terunobu Fujimori built this flower-encased treehouse specifically for Japan's Kiyoharu Shirakaba Museum. Fitting with the floral theme was Fujimori's use of a singular cypress trunk to support the structure, making the miniature home appear as if it has sprung from the ground. This remarkable architectural feat was designed specifically for the enjoyment of cherry blossoms which have encased the small dwelling. Interestingly, while the treehouse appears enchanted and magical from the outside, sturdy wood panelling and circular windows have made the interior quite practical, adding as aspect of sensibility to the artistic project. Fitting with this Terunobu undertaking is his portfolio. In the past, he has worked with similarly environmentally-oriented designs by incorporating stone and pine into his pieces. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.1/10 - Popularity: 65% | Activity: 19% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Architecture](https://www.trendhunter.com/architecture) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Eco-friendly Architecture:** Fashioning architecture using environmentally friendly materials - **Nature-inspired Design:** Designing from nature and integrating natural elements into structures - **Artisanal Architecture:** Creating unique, handmade structures with an emphasis on artistry and creativity ### Where This Applies - **Architecture:** Exploring new technologies and materials to create unique and functional structures - **Museums and Galleries:** Using architecture to create immersive and visually impactful exhibits - **Tourism and Hospitality:** Incorporating unique architectural designs that appeal to travelers seeking unconventional lodging experiences ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Forested Residential Buildings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/forest-bath.md) - [Timber Tradition Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fukasawa-residence.md) - [Vaulted Structural Telescopic Treehouse](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/artistree-home.md) - [Woodland Arts Pavilions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/waterhouseoyama.md) - [Barn-Inspired Timber Residences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/house-w-1.md) - [Cat-Catered Large Japanese Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/a-cat-tree-house.md) - [Intersecting Block-Formed Narrow Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/house-in-fujidera.md) - [Memory-Reminiscent Idyllic Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tane-garden-house.md) - [Tree-Surrounding Mass-Timber Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tree-courtyard-house.md)
