# Historical Sci-Fi Gentlemen Terry Fan Crops Stars Wars Characters' Heads Onto Dapper Bodies By Jason Soy | Published 2012-02-03 | Pop Culture Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/terry-fan1 References: [lacarpa.tumblr](http://lacarpa.tumblr.com/post/16946753417/star-wars-historical-gentlemen-terry-fan#n) & [krop](http://www.krop.com/terryfan/) Star Wars was originally inspired by old adventure serials, so for Terry Fan to crop the heads off characters like Boba Fett, Darth Vader, Yoda and C-3PO and put them onto well-dressed bodies of vintage photos seems rather fitting. Each historical science fiction picture has that aged look with its off-white coloring, though the anachronistic inclusion of [space age helmets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ray-ban-star-wars), [lightsabers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lightsaber-lego) and weird aliens gives away the illusion. Terry Fan also hilariously christens each character with a new name. General Fett, Baron Von C-3PO, Sir Yoda and Victorian Vader look as though they may be precursors to George Lucas' creations. Fans of Terry Fan's work already know how many times he's rendered [Star Wars-related imagery](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/brickbuilt-star-wars-logo), but this new series is one of the first times he's made something Star Wars-themed using actual photos. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.6/10 - Popularity: 77% | Activity: 82% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 90% men, 10% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Pop Culture](https://www.trendhunter.com/popculture) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Aged Sci-fi Mashups:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Creating a new genre of art by combining vintage photos with sci-fi elements. - **Historical Fiction Revival:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Reimagining classic characters and stories in new and unexpected settings. - **Creative Character Transformation:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Using digital manipulation to give familiar characters unique identities. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Art and Photography:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Exploring new artistic techniques using digital manipulation and mixed media. - **Entertainment and Media:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Developing innovative storytelling formats that merge different genres and time periods. - **Creative Design and Marketing:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Incorporating unexpected and visually captivating elements into brand messaging and advertising campaigns. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Sci-Fi Franchise-Inspired Fashion](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/star-wars-collection-2.md) - [Dark Sci-Fi Capsules](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/darc-sport.md) - [Hand-Knit Sci-Fi Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/handknit-scifi-sculpture.md) - [Sci-Fi Film-Inspired Custom Eyewear](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lucasfilm.md) - [Desert Planet Sci-Fi Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sands-of-tatooine-collection.md) - [Sci-Fi-Inspired Lenses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ray-ban-star-wars.md) - [Collectible Sci-Fi Coins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/star-wars-coins.md) - [Sci-Fi-Themed Cars](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/volkswagen-2.md) - [Sci-Fi-Themed Hard Drives](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/firecuda-external-hard-drives.md)
