# Miniature Termite Farms The Termitat Termite Exhibit Lets You Observe Termits In Your Own Home By Rahul Kalvapalle | Published 2014-12-31 | Tech Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/termite-exhibit References: [gizmag](http://www.gizmag.com/termitat-termite-habitat/35306/) & [termitat](http://termitat.com/) Nobody wants to have termites running around their house and chewing on walls and flooring, but there are many folks who wouldn't mind having a controlled termite exhibit to look at. Termites are fascinating creatures that are interesting to watch as long as you're watching them go about their work in a controlled environment rather than your basement. Each Termitat unit includes around 25 worker and soldier termites, which live out their lifespan -- a few years -- living on the wood included in the exhibit. Owners simply need to add a bit of water through a tiny hole atop the Termitat twice a month and keep the exhibit away from direct sunlight to avoid overheating. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.3/10 - Popularity: 69% | Activity: 53% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Science](https://www.trendhunter.com/science) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Controlled Termite Exhibits:** The trend of controlled termite exhibits allows people to observe termites in a controlled environment, presenting opportunities for educational experiences and scientific research. - **Personalized Home Exhibits:** The trend of personalized home exhibits, like the Termitat, offers a unique way for individuals to bring nature into their living spaces and observe tiny ecosystems in action. - **DIY Science Experiences:** The trend of DIY science experiences, such as owning a Termitat, empowers individuals to engage in hands-on learning and explore the wonders of nature from the comfort of their own homes. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Education:** Controlled termite exhibits present opportunities for educational institutions to enhance biology and environmental science curricula, allowing students to study termites and their behavior. - **Home Decor:** The personalized home exhibit trend opens up opportunities for the home decor industry to create unique, nature-inspired products that allow individuals to bring a piece of the natural world into their homes. - **Entertainment:** DIY science experiences, like owning a Termitat, could be a potential niche in the entertainment industry as people seek interactive and educational ways to entertain themselves and guests. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Insect Habitat Toys](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bug-playground.md) - [Compact Microclimate Terrariums](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/microclimate-terrariums.md) - [Natural Moss Terrariums](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/petite-foret-plus.md) - [Edible Insect Lollipops](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pest-infested-pops.md) - [Miniature Astronomy Gadgets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tiny-planetarium.md) - [Miniature Terrarium Keycaps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/terrarium-keycaps.md) - [Urbanite Worm Compost Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vermicomposter.md) - [Digital Pet Toy Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tamagotchi-grand-exhibition.md) - [STEM Gardening Kits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/organic-terrarium-kids-grow-kit.md)
