# Frozen Music-Players Terje Isungset Carves and Plays Instruments Made from Glacial Ice By Michael Hines | Published 2011-01-14 | Unique Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/terje-isungset References: [odditycentral](http://www.odditycentral.com/videos/terje-isungsets-ice-instruments-make-cool-music.html) & [home.online.no](http://home.online.no/~isungz/) Terje Isungset is a talented musician who makes his own instruments out of glacial ice. The Norwegian artist has created and played everything from a trumpet to a guitar. I applaud Terje Isungset for making functional ice carvings. Too often we see cool ice sculptures that can only be looked at from a distance, but not practically used. Check out the video to see Terje Isungset tearing things up at an all-ice instrument set. Trust me, you don't want to miss this. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.6/10 - Popularity: 32% | Activity: 69% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Unique](https://www.trendhunter.com/unique) > [Inventions](https://www.trendhunter.com/inventions) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Glacial Innovations:** Creating and using instruments made from glacial ice opens up a new field of innovation and unique product offerings that could be applied in various areas. - **Sustainable Music-making:** Sustainable and eco-friendly music-making can be a new trend, where instruments are made by repurposing natural resources. - **Ice Instrument Performance:** Performances using ice instruments can create a novel experience for audiences. ### Who This Affects Most - **Music:** The music industry can incorporate sustainable materials such as ice to manufacture instruments or decor. - **Tourism:** Designing and creating attractions using glacial ice could be a disruptive innovation for the tourism industry. - **Architecture:** Using glacial ice as a building material can be applied in the construction of unique and sustainable structures, and furniture. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Coffee Ground-Made Music Boxes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/snowie.md) - [Water Movement Sculptural Instruments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/inner-waves.md) - [Ice Cube Necklaces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ice-cube-necklace.md) - [Modern Mixologist Ice Makers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/juniper-clear-ice-maker.md) - [At-Home Mixologist Ice Makers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sphere-ice-maker.md) - [Self-Building Igloo Makers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/inland-iglu.md) - [Haunting Glacial Fragrances](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/joklalykt.md) - [Iced Car Showrooms](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/iced-car-showroom.md) - [Embossed Ice Stamp Machines](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/clear-ice-embosser.md)
